5G is the latest generation of broadband cellular network technology. What's important is that 5G is not going to replace 4G—both generations are supposed to exist at the same time. 5G, however, enables more simultaneous connections to the network (which corresponds with bigger and bigger number of mobile devices in the world), lower latency up to only 1 milisecond (which is going to be helpful in technologies such as self-driving cars) and of course faster network speeds.
