WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access)—a technology for wireless radio data transmission. It was based on the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperLAN standards. These standards were created for broadband radio access in large areas and they specify information about the configuration of the equipment so that the devices of different suppliers can work together using the same configurations. Since 2009 cellular networks started to gradually migrate to the LTE-standard network.
