xDSL (x Digital Subscriber Line) is the collective term for all digital subscriber line technologies that use multiple modulation schemes to "pack" data through copper wires. The first x in the name stands for the initial letter of a specific technology. It includes technologies such as: ADSL (Asymmetric DSL), HDSL (High Data Rate DSL), SDSL (Single-Line DSL), RADSL (Rate Adaptive DSL) and others.
